My early woodworking memories include numerous, crude treehouses and many blackened fingernails and battered thumbs. Industrial Arts classes in high school taught me a new appreciation for woodworking that showed me the path I wanted to follow. After high school I entered a five year apprentice program to become a journeyman carpenter. I successfully completed the apprenticeship and went to work in a small custom furniture shop for two additional years. In 1983, I opened “The Wood Plane” Fine Custom Woodworking. I have had the honor to create many one of a kind pieces for indiviuals and churches. I enjoy working with different woods with their incredible beauty giving me many avenues of creativity. My
work combines the texture and tones of domestic and exotic woods into functional furniture and art objects. I continue to enjoy and take pride in the work I accomplish.
'The Wood Plane' is featured annually in Central Wisconsin's 'Hidden Studios Art Tour' which connects artists in the tour with the people of the area.
I am a member at Q Artists Cooperative in downtown Stevens Point, WI where my pieces are on display for sale year-round.
Liturgical furniture has been delivered to over 40 churches in states including Arizona, Georgia, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, Missouri and North Carolina. Other pieces have also been bought from customers around the country.
Projects ranging from designing and constructing wooden toys that have been featured as grand prize winners in Better Homes and Garden Wood Magazine to winning a international competition by Freud Tool Company in Italy for a cabinet I designed in addition to creating multiple pieces of liturgical furniture for churches throughout the United States, each piece unique and custom made.
